Case Study

Under Licence  bylaw No 4450 all active businesses in the City of Vancouver area are required to obtain a valid licence to have a legitimate operation.

Please refer to Business License Data for a list of permits issued from 1997 to 2022 .

 

Area of Focus 

Data Accuracy & Error Management 

Address the following questions to investigate and present: 

1) How does the Business licence data change from 1997 to present? 

a. How did you address the data changes? 

2) What were the common errors / issues you encountered with the data?

 3) How did you mitigate the errors / issues?

 4) What opportunities do some of the data “errors” present to City of Vancouver as the applicable jurisdiction?

5) Are there areas within the city that are over/under serviced? 

a. How did you come to the result?

Instructions / Deliverables

1) All analysis results should be posted on Tableau Public (https://public.tableau.com/enus/s/)

2) Please submit a 4 page (maximum) summary of the work taken of generate the results –

using the template provided as a guide (Appendix 1 – Summary of Analytics).

3) Each group should submit a power point presentation by the deadline.

4) Each group will be presenting their final work to the class during week 11 (Jun 20-25).
