project Assignment 2

By now the product design should be finalized and the team is in the process of creating the prototype. Use the prototype slides to assist in building your prototype*. You can use any available material in your home/garage, or you can 3D print it from plastic at the ATC campus. Develop a detailed report that includes:

The report from project assignment 1 was adjusted based on the professor's comments and feedback.

Update research study about similar existing products based on the changes in the market.

The report should also include:

o Project Planning and Execution: List the activities needed to plan, execute, monitor, and control your project and the list of activities needed to design, develop, and test the product. You can use a project management software package to create a list of activities and a chart for the timeline of the project (WBS and Gantt chart). The list of activities should include the estimated duration of each activity. This will assist in calculating the direct labor involved in each task.

o Project Network Diagram: Sequence of the activities early start, early finish, late start, late finish, duration, and slack, including a calculation for the critical path

o Cost Estimation: Remember there are two costs, the cost of research, design, and development of the product, which will be considered as capital/investment cost, and the cost of creating one unit of the product, which includes the cost of direct labor to build one-unit, direct material to build one-unit, fixed cost, and indirect/overhead cost. The report should concentrate on the cost associated with building one unit**. Mass production costs will be calculated in the next semester.

o Resources (manpower, facilities, equipment, and materials), and the mean used in identifying the resources needed to accomplish WBS activities. (For example, do we need special equipment to produce your product?)
