Source, visualize this seasonality (or time trend) and create a forecast that will help you plan for how much staff you'll need this upcoming season (based on a prediction of cases and fatalities). Ensure you've built seasonality into your forecast to account for the predictability of these annual trends. (Note that in Tableau, you won't be able to do a sum of data if there are any text values included, as with your "Suppressed" values. Make sure to account for this in your Excel data to ensure you only include numeric values!)
Directions
1. Create a line chart of influenza deaths.
O Decide if the x-axis will be in years or months.
• Determine which variable shows counts and
place this on the y-axis.
• Make geographic state the category of data by using colors.
2. Take a screenshot of your visual, including any legends, and include it in a new Word document.
3. Create a forecast for future month(s) or year(s). Turn on and off seasonality and observe how this affects your charts.
Note that you might need to exclude certain states (Delaware, Idaho,
Maine, Montana, New Hampshire,
North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming) if your forecast tells you there are too many missing values.
4. Take a screenshot of your chart with and without seasonality and include these screenshots in your Word document.
5. Update the visualization using the style guide checklist you created in Exercise 2.2.
6. Take a screenshot of your final chart and checklist and include it in your Word document.
7. Export your final Word document as a PDF and submit it here for your tutor to review.
8. Publish your workbook to Tableau Public in order to save your progress and submit the link here along with your PDF.
