Descriptive analysis of the sample Working with the supplied dataset and scoring codebook, create overall scale scores for personality dimensions

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS

In the module  (“Data Analysis and Statistics for Psychology”) students will be provided with the data collected from the questionnaire and will use it to complete data analysis and submit a practical report (overall word limit guidance: 1400 words).

Using this data, you should undertake the following data analysis:

(a) Descriptive analysis of the sample

(b) Working with the supplied dataset and scoring codebook, create overall scale scores for personality dimensions and creativity by combining individual items / questions. There are five personality scales: Openness, Neuroticism, Extraversion, Conscientiousness and Agreeableness. Be careful about reverse scoring relevant items. There is one overall Creativity scale. Calculate internal reliability (Chronbach’s alpha and/or Mcdonald’s omega) for each scale / sub-scale.

(c) In what ways is personality associated with creativity? Test the associations between the five dimensions of personality and creativity by examining the bivariate correlations between the five dimensions of personality and creativity. Describe the estimated correlations.

(d) In a multiple linear regression, include all five dimensions of personality and examine if any are independently associated with creativity; and that any observed relationship(s) is robust to demographic controls (age and gender). Interpret each of the regression coefficients, and the overall model fit. Alongside this check all assumptions of your regression model. Consider how the results of (c) and (d) may or may not differ, and what that suggest for your interpretation of the results.
