In this assignment, you try to replicate some of the tables in the Acemoglu, Johnson, and Robinson (2001) colonial

origins paper.

Use this dataset

to replicate Tables 4, 5, and 8 of the paper. Note that, the uploaded data is similar but not exactly the same as the one in AJR paper so you might not get exact replication. In this case, please note if your results are qualitatively similar or different from AJR. Please read the paper carefully. While the topic itself is very interesting and the paper is one of the most cited papers in economics, even if you are not interested in the topic you will learn a lot about the instrumental variable technique from the paper.
