Students will submit the following:
1. SQL script (if you save it as txt, be sure to keep the adequate indentations):
■ While there are multiple ways to approach the building of their P&L and B/S statements, most likely you will need a stored procedure.
■ However, if you do not use a stored procedure, then be sure to include the comprehensive list of queries in ONE single.sql script that if the instructor runs on their computer, they will be able to obtain exactly the same results as per your P&L and B/S screenshots from #2.
2. Screenshot of their resulting P&L and B/S outputs.
3. A reflection paper of 400-600 words including the following:
• How did the pair/trio work together?
• What were each team member's unique contributions to the completion of the project?
• What were the key SQL/technical learnings behind this challenge? If you were to do it all over again with the same time pressure, what would you have done differently from a technical point of view?
• What were your key learnings in this course? In this assignment?
--Students who have not been exposed to Accounting are HIGHLY encouraged to complete the Rosas Palas Franchise exercise--
• Through a series of videos and working in Excel, the Rosas Palas Franchise explores how to build a cash flow statement
• A Cash Flow Statement (CFS) is a proxy of a P&L.
• A CFS is often more difficult to understand than a P&L. Therefore by completing the CFS, you will be more than equipped to complete the P&L.
⚫ Notice that the videos talk about Depreciation as a complex topic and outside of the scope of the videos. Similarly, you will NOT have to manage depreciation calculations in developing the P&L and B/S of the given company's accounting entries.
⚫ In addition, you have also been provided with Technical Notes on how to prepare, read and interpret P&L and B/S
