Research summary

The encroachment of woody plants into grasslands, and the conversion of savannas and open woodlands into shrublands, has been widely reported during the past decade. Encroachment has generated considerable interest among ecologists worldwide, but there have been few quantitative syntheses of the effects of encroachment on ecosystem processes across large areas of the globe.

A dataset showing findings of the impact of encroachment by woody plants on different ecosystems is discussed here (Download: “Dateset_SCQTA1-2021” on MyLMS). As the lead researcher, you have been tasked with preparing a brief statistical summary summarizing the key results of this study.

Write a short summary (max between 300 and 500 words) and present your findings.

Using the provided data, you will assess based on your ability to apply the following:

• Categorical Frequency Table with appropriate graphical representation (pie chart and bard chart)

• Cross tabulation table (Multiple bar chart)
