Course Outline:
• Download survey data and cleaning, recoding, labeling with missing values.
• Tabular analysis of data to answer research question using STATA
• Graphical analysis of the research output
• Regression analysis and multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, endogeneity, etc.using STATA.
• Writing a research report
Topic: How do variables such as education level, gender, location etc. affect and impact total assets and which are the best indicators of strong financial position.
Survey data: 2016 Canadian Household Financial Survey
Assignment 1:
1. Write your three econometric models and give the variable descriptions
2.Three estimated econometric models in three output tables in word file
3.Brief explanation the: coefficients, significance of the coefficients and overall model, goodness of fit, factor of variance
4.Minimum 2 postestimation graphs for each model with a total minimum 6 graphs
5.Multicollinearity and heteroskedasticitytest for all 3 models and explain briefly the test results
6.DO file (only for econometric analysis, test, graphs)
7.Title page including your name, student id and your research topic
Research Report:
Research Topic: What variables have an impact on total assets
1) Abstract: Summary of your findings including main objective and contribution. maximum 250 words.
2) Introduction: Background of your study where you explain the issue or the research question you investigated. You need to explain and justify why your research question is important to investigate.
3) Objective (research question)
4) Literature Review :you read minimum2 related research papers and summarize their findings
6) Methodology
-Descriptive Analysis: Explain what types of descriptive analysis you used. For example, tabular, graphical, correlation, mean or proportion t test etc.
-Econometric Models(3 models): Write and Explain your 3 econometric models in details. And do multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity test
7. Data: Describe the data source, data collection methodology, type of data, sample areas, sample size etc. All this information available in the pdf files
8. Results and Discussion:
-Descriptive Statistics: In this subsection, you include your tabular and graphical analysis output that you submitted in the first assignment (try to improve tables and graphs based on my comments provided in your first assignment). But you must explain those tabular, graphical outputs, correlations test results, t test results etc.
-Econometric Analysis: In this subsection, you include your econometric results (regression output of 3 models in one table, multicollinearity test, heteroscedasticity test, post estimation graphs etc that you submitted in last assignment). But you need to explain and analyze your results more details
9. Conclusion: Summary of your research that includes objectives, methodology, main findings and policy recommendation based on your findings. Maximum 500 words
10. Bibliography/References:use APA or Chicago style
