You are interested in conducting a meta-analysis to assess the impact of Niacin versus Placebo on the rate (i.e. probability) of Coronary Artery Revascularization. The table below shows the results from 5 studies meeting the criteria for being included in the meta-analysis. The rate of revascularization differs from study to study in part due to some differences in patient populations but the studies are considered similar enough to combine to assess the research question. We are interested in estimating the overall risk of revascularization on Placebo versus the risk of revascularization on Niacin (i.e. Relative Risk of revascularization: Placebo to Niacin). You’ve decided to use a fixed model to combine the results in the meta-analysis.
