INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS

This data pertains to a chain of coffee stores that you work for. Please examine each variable in the Data Source to better understand your data and fields. You can also click on the arrow next to each measure or dimension in the data pane and select "Describe" to better understand each field. he goal of this homework is to conduct exploratory analysis on data from your coffee chain. More specifically, we first select a measure we want to investigate - in this case we are interested in investigating the profits of our coffee chain from many angles by examining a number of related dimensions and measures that we think will impact profit. Instructions: 1) Below are screenshots some of the visualizations that I created to explore this data from many angles. Your goal is to recreate all of these visualizations in Tableau. Each visualization should be in a separate sheet. While I do not have active titles or any special formatting, you are encouraged to have an active title for each visualization (for example, Product A is Making Double the Profit as the Others) , and you may choose to play with formatting, colors etc. as well if you want to. 2) In addition, you are required to create one other visualization of your own choice that is not shown below. I do not want it to be a "random" visualization for the sake of creating one- the viz has to try to answer a specific question that you have and want to explore - so start with a question. If you notice, I have asked a question for each visualization, every visualization has to be driven by a question. Your question for your new viz may be a follow up of what we see in the other visualizations. Below are the visualizations to recreate: 1. My first question is a very basic one - which of our products are most profitable? This visualization shows profit by product. We show an average line (from analytics pane). After creating the viz, we form three visual groups of the Top 4, Middle 5, and Bottom 4 products (Hint: multiselect the products in the graph itself and click on the paper clip icon - then edit group and name it etc.). 2. Next question: What is the impact of Market Size on Profit? This is a simple The groups we formed in the first question are put on color to bring out the differences between the product groups. An annotation is used to point out an interesting finding (right click near where you want to annotate and select annotation). 3. Third, we delve deeper into Market Size by examining Profit by State within Market Size. Average lines are shown (Drag from analytics pane and edit to make it an actual value and not "Average" label if you want to). 4. Next, we look to see if there are any trends in Profit by Weekday since that may affect Coffee Shop customers and sales. (Hint: Date on Columns, click on arrow next to Date in the shelf and select Custom > Weekday) 5. Next, we see if there is any correlation between money spent on Marketing and Profit. We want each point in the scatterplot to be a product's total profit, so the aggregation is at product level. Create your scatterplot, Marketing vs Profit and put product on detail. Color by Product group. 6. Finally, we create a bullet graph to see which products are meeting Target Profit. Are any products not meeting Targets, and if so, by how much? the grey shaded areas in the background reveal to what extent the Target Profit is being met for each product. When creating a bullet chart make sure that your TARGET profit is the line and the actual profit is the bar. If this is not done automatically by Tableau, you will need to right click on the profit axis and select Swap Reference.. 7) Visualization of your choice! I have attached files of the data, and also files of the screenshots that goes with each questions has an example. Thanks!!
