A research group has done a clinical trial, to test wether a new treatment for anemia is effective. Data such as patient ID number, age, sex, marital status, educational level, height, weight, hemoglobin(Hb) level before and after treatment were collected for two groups ( patients in group 1 were treated with the new method and group 2 were treated with a placebo drug).

 

Questions:

 

1.     Please describe the distribution of age, sex, marital status, educational level, Hb levels before and after treatment between the two groups(treatment and placebo) with appropriate statistics, tables and graphs.

2.     Please compare the difference of age, sex, marital status, education level between the two groups(treatment and placebo)  with appropriate hypothesis testing methods.

3.     For the treatment group, the researcher wonders that if the new treatment method have any effect for the anemia patients, so choose the appropriate hypothesis testing method to test whether the Hb levels before and after treatment are different from each other? And if the researcher wants to know whether the Hb levels before and after treatment are linear correlated to each other, how to test the correlation relationship for the data?

4.     If Hb level does have a significant difference before and after treatment in group 1, whether the treatment effect for group 1 is better than group 2 (the placebo group)?
