Data Analytics Bootcamp Capstone Project Assessment

This capstone project makes up for 100% of the total course grade.

Project Scope

Participants will be required to address a data-related problem using a financial dataset. You will acquire a real-world dataset, then prepare, clean, and analyze it to draw meaningful conclusions.

The capstone project will culminate your learning by applying the new tools and concepts learnt to create a report that includes:

● A summary of the data acquisition, cleaning, and parsing stages.

● A clear visualization or dashboard that displays insights both numerically and graphically.

● A description of high-level insights and resulting actions that are relevant to key stakeholders.

 

Your instructional team will help guide you and scope out a dataset that is commensurate with the skills taught in the course.

 

Project Requirements

 

1. Choose a real-world dataset from the finance-service related categories below:

a. Cryptocurrency

b. Stock investments

c. Insurance

d. Credit default risk

e. Fraud detection

f. Home mortgage/Business loan

g. Credit and debit cards

h. Forex

 

i. Funds, ETFs. etc

j. Wealth management products

Once you have chosen your desired dataset, approach one of the instructor/TAs for approval.

2. Identify the problem: write a high-quality problem statement to describe the goals of your study and criteria for success.

3. Apply the data analysis process to derive insights and findings.

4. Present data-driven insights using data visualization to key stakeholders.

5. Explain the results: Create a slide deck where you assume you are presenting your results to your manager who is non-technical.

6. Make business recommendations based on your findings.
