• Conduct all appropriate univariate statistics first. (do not need frequency tables)

1. Is there a relationship between one’s gender (sex) and whether one believes they were a victim of crime (lifevict)? Using the variables “sex” and “lifevict” try to solve this research question using the five-step model listed below. Make sure you include all output and don’t forget to conduct univariate statistics for all variables. Provide a final conclusion in statistical terminology, as well as, in lay terms. (file: GSS)

2. What is the relationship between being a victim of discrimination and taking medication for depression?

Using the variables “med_depress” and “discrim” to try and solve this research question using the five-step model listed below. Make sure you include all output and don’t forget to conduct univariate statistics for all variables. Provide a final conclusion in statistical terminology, as well as, in lay terms. (file: GSS) For both questions you must include:

1. State your research question.

2. State the null and alternative hypotheses. (Both in mathematical and word form)

3. Write up univariate (descriptive) statistics for all variables in analysis. (provide SPSS output excluding frequency tables) – Therefore, describe each variable independently.

4. Calculate the appropriate test. Report your findings from the test and provide an analysis of the results. (provide SPSS output) 5. Make a conclusion from your results. Remember you must answer the research question.
