The statistical analysis was a collaborative effort with a statistician who assisted with analyzing and interpreting the data. The statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version software program was used to compare the pre and post intervention data.

based practice. The primary data consisted of pre and post catheter days, new number of CAUTIs, and registered nurses who received champion training. The effectiveness of training was monitored by using daily catheter maintenance compliance bundle.

 

There were two CAUTI in SCI Unit in the month of September in 2022. the possible risk factors identified were improper

technique used for catheter insertion and non-compliance with using daily maintenance bundle. Zero incidence of CAUTI during and

30 days after the project implementation. The result also shows there is a significant reduction in catheter days. The CAUTI prevention committee recommended to train more champions with two clinician urinary catheter insertion technique and teach staff on

how to use daily urinary catheter maintenance bundle.

 

After champion training

• The total number of new CAUTI events in the unit for 30 days -Zero

• The number of catheter days - 140

• The total number of registered nurses who completed the champion training -10
