 INSTRUCTIONS

 You will be given a database, containing participant data from an experiment. The database contains some mistakes and incomplete information. Your tasks will be to clean the database so that you may run the proper analyses. The Jamovi dataset can be found on Canvas, here.

You will need the programme Jamovi to complete this assessment. You can find it here: https://appsanywhere.kingston.ac.uk or https://www.jamovi.org/download.html

Question 1. Understanding Quantitative Research

a) What is an Ordinal variable and a Nominal variable? Provide an example of each.

b) A marketing company is interested if people shopping during either the morning or the evening shop for different types of crisps. The brands they are interested in are Pringles, Doritos, Kettle, and Walkers. They ask shoppers for their age, which brand they purchased, and how much they enjoy the brand (using a 5- point Likert scale). Consider the experiment and describe the data collected (i.e., type, format, etc.). Hint: there are 4 variables.

c) Imagine the below graphs represent IQ scores of two classes; both have the same average score. What can you say about the distribution of data of the two normal distributions? Hint: Consider its dispersion.
