Hypotheses:

 

1. What is the relationship between the Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) and COVTABS scores in children with chronic pain, asthma, GI conditions and diabetes?

Hypothesis 1: There will be a positive correlation between the IU scale and the COVTABS such that children who report higher scores on the IU scale will also report higher scores on the COVTABS.

2. Which diagnosis reported the highest levels of Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) and COVTABS?

Hypothesis 2: Pediatric patients with a diagnosis chronic pain and diabetes will report the higher level of IU and COVID-19 related thoughts and behaviors compared to patients with asthma and GI issues. (please do a comparison among all 4 groups and also do a separate comparison of Chronic pain +type 1 diabetes (coded 2 and 4) and Asthma and GI (coded 1 and 17))

Please also do a separate comparison for those who reported more than one condition (coded 1, 2, 4 or 17)

3. Are there age and gender related differences in reports of Intolerance of Uncertainty and COVTABS scores?

Hypothesis 3A: There will be a gender difference such that female pediatric patients will report higher levels of IU and COVID-19 related thoughts and behaviors compared to male pediatric patients.

Hypothesis 3B: There will be a negative correlation between age and IU and COVID-19 related thoughts and behaviors indicating that younger patients have higher levels of IU.
