Assessment Description This assessment has 2 tasks. Both tasks require an application of concepts from Topics 1-9. Task 1 is a design question that requires you to apply what you have studied to an organisation of your choice. Task 2, requires you to apply the skills you have developed in using Tableau to analyse a scenario. Below are the specific requirements.
Task 1: Design Task [60 marks] Your employer has asked you to produce a report with a strategic plan for big data analytics capabilities for your company. You are tasked to design a preliminary big data framework for your organisation based on their current operations. To address this challenge, you must: Provide all background information about the organisation relevant to the big data analytic framework. Provide any two potential use case scenarios for big data analytics. Based on the background information and the two use cases, address each element of the big data framework. Tip: As you address each element of the big data framework, you are encouraged to make reasonable assumptions about the organisation to justify your discussion of each element.
Task 2 : Practical Assessment [40 marks] In this task, a top end bakery has provided you with a Tableau file that contains twitter analytics data for the whole month of December 2015 . You have been asked by the bakery to analyse their social media campaign on twitter. Create Tableau worksheets to answer each of the following questions (use one worksheet per question): The tableau file will be made available to you under the resources tab in the subject interact2 site. Analyse the distribution of likes for the days of the week using a bar chart. Are there particular days that seem to get the most likes? Color code the number of likes in each bar of the bar chart by the type of tweet. Does promoted tweets enhance the number of likes on a tweet? [10 Marks]
Assume follows refers to how many users follow a twitter user and promoted follows refers to how many users follow a twitter user via a promoted tweet. Analyse the effectiveness of promoted tweets in attracting new followers by using the follows, and promoted follows measures and type of tweet dimension. Your visualisation should display the number of each type of tweet, the number of follows and the number of promoted follows. It should also include a filter that allows the user to select the type of tweet. [10 Marks] Twitter impressions refer to how many times a tweet has been seen organically, promoted impressions refers to tweets that have been seen because it was promoted. Visualise the time of the day vs impressions and promoted impressions.
What are the top 3 times (e.g. 10 pm, 12 am, etc) that has the most impressions, and the top 3 times that has the most promoted impressions. [10 Marks] Analyse the total url clicks, impressions, promoted impressions, tweet text and time of the day. Color code your chart with the type of tweet. Comparing the impressions with the total url clicks, would you say that the promoted tweets were successful in increasing the number of people that clicked on linked offers in the tweet? Use the ratio of impressions to url clicks to justify your answer. [10 Marks] NOTE: The term "promoted" in twitter means that the business (user) pays twitter to show their tweets to a certain number of users based on desired audience characteristics, regardless of whether the audience (twitter user) follows the business or not.
