Data Orientation - Select the Lab 1 datafile in Blackboard and open it in SPSS. There are two variables in your file: gender and ideal_num_kids - Click on the Variable View tab at the bottom left of the screen. You may widen the Label column to better understand what the variable measures. For the gender variable row, click the little box under the Values column to see how male and female are numerically coded. - Go back to the Data View to see the raw data. Make sure you understand what the numbers in each variable column mean. Examine the variable sex 1. The variable gender is a ________ variable. (nominal or scale)
