Integrity

Definition

Integrity is defined as behaving in accordance with your beliefs about what is right. Integrity is demonstrated by a person's principled commitment to their values & beliefs. Irrespective of situation, they seek to uphold ethical standards and do the right.

Summary

A structured organizational control system meant to develop an integrity culture, prevent integrity violations, and encourage integrity behaviour is known as an integrity program. In their article, Hoekstra & Kaptein (2020) discuss the integrity & integrity program and proposed that Organizations can develop and execute an integrity program to insert and enhance integrity. Integrity program (henceforth: IPs) might include a rules, integrity training, integrity office(r), processes of whistleblowing, trusted people, and rules for investigating and correcting misbehaviour, as well as pre-employment screening. Further, Hoekstra (Senior Policy Advisor in Dutch Ministry, PhD in institutionalization & management of ethics from Rotterdam School of Management, University for Humanistics) and Kaptein (Business Administration and PhD in ethics management and professor at RSM Erasmus University, in Business Ethics & Integrity Management) The majority of the norms produced for Ips or integrity programs are based on positivistic arguments about their effectiveness. In this article norms proposed are based on normative arguments derived directly from the integrity idea. The four norms are processual, societal wholeness, and organizational wholeness. The operationalization of such norms into sub-norms as well as indicators results in a normative framework which aids in assessing and advancing the IPs integrity (Hoekstra & Kaptein, 2020).
