Overview

In this final project, you will be given a dataset and will get the opportunity to showcase all that you have learned throughout this course to perform an analysis on the data and communicate your analysis using various charts, calculations, visualization formatting, a dashboard, and a Tableau story.

 

It is important that you carefully read and follow all instructions in this document. These

instructions need to be followed closely to allow for an easier time to grade your project. Major points will be deducted for failing to follow instructions. You especially need to review the

Captions section and the Miscellaneous section of this document to prevent losing substantial points on your submission.

 

Please ensure that you take your time to work on this project as this represents a large portion of your grade. Your final grade will reflect the level of analysis that you perform on the data along with your creativity and ability to share your insights in an informative, cohesive, and visually appealing way.

 

 

Objectives

 

 

 

● Apply the various skills that you have learned in both visualization theory and the use of Tableau to analyze a dataset.

 

 

Data

This dataset was downloaded from data.world and contains fictitious sales data for a company across various US regions that sells to large companies, distributors, and wholesalers. The original data has been changed so you will need to make sure that you use the data downloaded directly from Brightspace. Check the Regional Sales Data Dictionary for more

information on the various data tables and variables in the dataset.

 

Final Project Instructions

Suppose that you work for the company represented in the dataset, and your manager has asked you to analyze the sales data for insights. You could showcase the areas where the company is excelling or the challenges that the company should watch and track.

 

You should think of various business questions that you want to answer about the data and use visualizations to answer those questions. After analyzing the data, what insights would you want to share with your manager? You will build a visually appealing dashboard to track key aspects of the data along with creating a Tableau story to share your insights in a logical, cohesive, and well-thought-out manner.
