Conduct appropriate descriptive statistics to describe the nature of the participants

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS

Question 1: Conduct appropriate descriptive statistics to describe the nature of the participants.

You should comment on the number of men and women and the percentage of each in the sample. If someone did not report their gender (i.e. this is blank for a participant), you should state that there is one missing value for the gender variable.

You should comment on the number of public and private sector employees and the percentage of each in the sample, and report any missing values.

You should comment on the number of participants in each age category, and tenure category, and the percentage of participants in each of those categories, and report any missing values.

You should decide on the best way to present these data. This may be in the form of words, a table, or graph.

Question 2: Complete the below tables by calculating the mean and standard deviation for each score. After each table, write a short paragraph describing the trends in the data.

Table 1: Mean scores for Organizational Commitment

Mean

Standard Deviation

Affective Commitment

3.01

Continuance Commitment

3.16

Normative Commitment

2.68

The above table shows the means and standard deviations for the three types of organizational commitment. The mean score for continuance commitment was the highest and the mean score for normative commitment was the lowest. These scores suggest that on average participants have a moderate level of affective commitment and continuance commitment but they may have low normative commitment.

Question 3* (Q3 is an example question that has been completed for you – you do not need to answer it): Is there a difference between affective commitment and continuance commitment?

<The table below is the Excel output from conducting this test. Use this output to produce a paragraph like in the example below. Include the Excel output in Appendix 2 (see Appendix 2 for more information).>

<Excel output for Q3. Do not present this output in the main body of the assignment, put this into Appendix 2.>

The mean continuance commitment score (3.16) was greater than the mean affective commitment score (3.01). A paired samples t-test was carried out to test if this difference was significant.  This test was used because the affective and continuance commitment scores were compared for each participant (i.e. there was a natural pairing in the data).

The test results presented in the above table show that this difference was not statistically significant, t(66) = -1.28, p = 0.204 (p > 0.05).

In other words, there was no significant difference between respondents’ scores on affective and continuance commitment.

Question 4* (Q4 is an example question that has been completed for you – you do not need to answer it: What is the relationship between affective commitment and continuance commitment?

To determine the relationship between affective commitment and continuance commitment, a Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated. The result (r = 0.092) was close to zero. This suggests that there is a very weak positive relationship (virtually no relationship) between affective and continuance commitment. It should be noted that the reliability of this relationship could not be assessed as Excel does not compute the associated p value.

Question 5: Do participants from the public sector have higher normative commitment scores than participants from the private sector?

Trust

Question 6: Are men more trusting than women?

Question 7: What is the relationship between trust and affective commitment?re just answer the question with practical answers.
